SCORING STRUCTURE

Official Code of Points & Scoring

At Spirit Brands, we believe that a fair, transparent, and consistent scoring system is the foundation of a premier championship experience. Our official Code of Points serves as the master scoring framework for all our competitive events. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of our score sheets, skill values and deduction criteria, ensuring you know exactly how your athletes will be evaluated from the moment they hit the mat.

Difficulty and Technique

Routines are evaluated based on the complexity of tumbling passes, stunt sequences, and pyramids allowed within your specific level and division. However, high difficulty scores must be supported by flawless technique. Our judges heavily weigh proper body control, synchronization, and safe execution to determine the final score.

Routine Composition and Choreography

Beyond individual skills, the Code of Points rewards seamless transitions, creative choreography, pacing, and overall visual appeal. A championship routine utilizes the entire spring floor and showcases continuous, high-level athletic engagement from the entire team.

Building Skills (Stunts & Pyramids)

Detailed criteria for stunts, pyramids, and tosses. This section of the Code outlines the required entry and dismount techniques, top girl body positions, base stability, and overall group synchronization needed to max out your building scores.

Tumbling and Jumps

Specific guidelines for standing tumbling, running tumbling, and jump sequences. The rubrics outline the technical requirements and quantity of athletes needed to achieve maximum difficulty and execution points for your specific level.

Spirit Brands Age Grids and Routine Guidelines

All programs follow the proprietary Spirit Brands Age Grid. Coaches must ensure their rosters are compliant with our current season's division and age requirements.

Execution Deductions

Clear definitions and point values for athlete bobbles, building falls, major building falls, and tumbling touch-downs. This allows coaches to understand exactly how much a missed skill or dropped stunt impacts the final score.

Safety and Legality Infractions

Adherence to standard industry safety guidelines is non-negotiable. Our deduction system outlines the strict penalty structure for out-of-level skills, out-of-bounds violations, time limit infractions, and safety hazards.

Other

Because dance scoring is subjective and focuses on flow rather than technical level skills, it does not follow the standard cheer rubrics.
